The FIFPRO World 11, honoring the year's top male and female footballers as chosen by the Professional Footballers' Association, was first introduced in 2005 under the title FIFPRO World 11. This accolade, which celebrates the finest footballers as voted by their peers, was initially established to recognize exceptional talent on the pitch. In 2009, a partnership was forged between FIFPRO and FIFA, leading to a rebranding of the award to "FIFA FIFPRO World 11," or the FIFA Annual Best Team, while maintaining the original voting process. As of 2024, FIFPRO has taken sole responsibility for the management of the award, reverting to its original name: FIFPRO World 11.
The FIFPRO Team of the Year, a globally recognized accolade exclusively chosen by professional footballers from across the globe, stands as the sole such prize in the sport. The criteria for player selection are based on their performances from August 4, 2025, to July 19, 2026, with a minimum of 30 official matches played during this period.
The final lineup of 11 players will consist of a single goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards, with the remaining position being filled by the non-goalie player who secures the most votes.
